Union Management Partnership

Union Management Partnership

In this project, a well established consumer products company wanted to create a new relationship with a large, international Union.

  1. An operational philosophy was drafted to set behavioral expectation.

  2. Visions held in common as well as differences were communicated.

  3. A task force was sponsored to create guidelines across multiple sites and local union organizations.

  4. Work was redesigned to allow greater involvement and responsibility for quality, cost, delivery and safety by those operating the plant.

  5. The management staff advanced to match the changing roles in the facility and company.

Union partnerships produced by Operations Improvement US works best within organizations that desire to:

  1. Have everyone take greater responsibility for quality, cost, delivery and safety decision making.

  2. Grow in knowledge, capability, satisfaction and productivity.

  3. Reduce losses inherent in gamesmanship.

  4. Increase trust among all members of the organization.
